Reflections Film 01 Framing Outdoor Spaces

In ‘Framing Outdoor Spaces’, the first film in the 'REFLECTIONS' series we produced for Louis Poulsen, we met up with experts within the field of light and design to talk about the function and importance of good lighting in outdoor environments.
Outside, in areas where there are no walls that define the space, the light control how frames and shapes appear. As the sun sets the artificial light takes over: It constructs an entirely new World with new imaginative walls, paths and landscapes.
Much like the way in which stage designers work with light to enhance certain moods and feelings, we can use light to manipulate and highlight the outdoors in the dark. We can generate a sense of security, affect behaviour and create beauty.

In the second film in the 'REFLECTIONS' series, ‘50 Years of Colour’, we delve into the history of Verner Panton's design with some experts from the industry.
When we think of Danish design – highly saturated colours, indulgent fabrics, plastic, and mind-bending shapes are not usually what spring to mind. Nevertheless, this is what Verner Panton is known for and what makes his designs popular, relevant and acknowledged today.
This film was released as a tribute to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Panton’s timeless design classic — the Panthella lamp.
The Panthella lamp was designed in 1971 and has become a true icon. It is a perfect example of Panton’s brilliant sense of atmospheric illumination and his ability to transform a room with his innovative designs.
A special thanks to The Panton family and Verner Panton Design AG for letting us share their archival material, as part of this film.

In 2020, SAGA Space Architects began an expedition for three months in the Northern part of Greenland: a corner of the world that is both desolate, uninhabited and extreme – similar to the conditions on the Moon.
The SAGA team was on a quest to find out what it takes to live comfortably in space, on a simulated Moon mission, for several months in a row.
The expedition was part of a study, to find out how the human body and mind is affected under extreme conditions. Light was one of the key parameters used to measure well-being. Louis Poulsen designed a light panel, programmed to mimic changing daylight throughout 24 hours.
Meet SAGA Space Architects, Professor Dr. Marc Fontoynont and other inspiring experts.

When looking into the incredible world of lighting, it becomes apparent why so many architects and designers refer to lighting as the fourth dimension of architecture.
Light has the ability to transform our surroundings and allow us to shape the feeling, and identity that we want a hotel, restaurant or meeting facilities to embody. To make guests and visitors feel at home and at ease, it is well worth exploring the Scandinavian way of using light to create ‘hygge’ and how even the smallest changes with light can have a major impact on well-being.

Half of the time, outdoor spaces belong to the night. In the dark, light plays a major role as it can be used to create different narratives while improving surroundings to make them more adapted to human life. For more than 50 years, architect and urban design consultant Jan Gehl has been working with the points of influences where architecture directly and indirectly affects human lives, and how people use architecture and cities.
Meet Jan Gehl, who shares his reflections on using light to focus on important events and creating a sense of comfortability and architect and product designer Peter Bysted, who is behind the new Bysted Garden, and other inspiring experts.
